UNDP helps coalition of Jordanian organizations develop recycling project
Jordan, Economics, 4/13/1998
The United Nations Development Program signed an agreement with the Jordanian Environmental Society, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature and the Arab Women's Society to provide a $41,000 grant to fund a recycling project.
The project aims at promoting clean collection of waste and applying the idea of recycling.
Among other objectives, the project also aims at involving people in protecting the environment by participating in solid waste separation.
"The grant will help the project get on its feet," UNDP representative Urgan Lissner told reporters. "It will later be able to finance itself," Lissner said.
