Jordan, Politics, 4/13/1998

Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul-Salam al-Majali said Israel should avoid disingenuous maneuvering that is being done at the expense of the rights of peoples in the region and at a cost to peace and security.

In the course of a meeting with department heads in Jordan's Ministry of Information, Majali called on Israel to fulfill pledges and implement agreements signed with all sides in the peace process.

"Jordan will continue to support the Palestinians and retaining their rights on their soil," Majali said.

Furthermore the Jordanian Prime Minister reiterated Jordan's belief in the need to secure comprehensive peace in the Middle East. "Jordan wants to see progress achieved on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks of negotiations with Israel," he said.
