Egypt prepares security case on Muslim activities in Britain for Blair
Egypt-UK, Politics, 4/10/1998

Informed sources stated that Egyptian security bodies prepared a file on the activity of Egyptian Muslims who reside in Britain, to be presented to British Prime Minister Tony Blair during the talks that he is to hold with Egyptian officials during his upcoming visit to Cairo.

The sources said the file includes a list of names comprising the elements affiliated with extremist religious groups who obtained asylum or permanent residence in Britain. The file also includes the charges leveled at these elements for their involvement in violence in Egypt.

When the British embassy in Egypt recently refused to give three Egyptians linked with extremist groups visas to attend a conference in the UK, Cairo considered this as a good start, but wants more procedures to put an end to the extremists' activities aboard.
