Solar energy meetings end with call for wider use of solar power
Regional, Science, 4/10/1998

The sixth Arab International Solar Energy Conference (AISEC-6) concluded at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman last week with a call for Arab leaders to give higher priority to large-scale use of solar energy in their energy programs.

The four-day meetings were attended more than 150 delegates, representing 25 countries and seven international organizations.

An official resource stated that the conference adopted a 13-point list of recommendations stressing, among other things, greater coordination and cooperation between Arab states in the field of solar energy.

"They also called for more education and training programs, besides workshops and short courses in solar energy, and a greater emphasis on applied research and development in the area," the resource added.
