Mystery death of three citizens shocks Jordan
Jordan, Local, 4/10/1998
Jordan's King Hussein yesterday met with top Jordanian security officials regarding the killing of three prominent Jordanians in Amman yesterday.
Lawyer Hanna Nida, his son Suheil and the renowned psychiatrist Awni Saad were all found dead yesterday in Dr. Said's clinic of in the Shmesani neighborhood of the Jordanian capital.
Jordanian security officials who met with the King updated him on the investigation into the murder.
King Hussein met with public security chief Nasouh Muhiddin. The king urged investigators to act rapidly to discern all the circumstances surrounding the hideous crime and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
A police statement issued earlier said the three men had been shot dead.
"Security men immediately launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and motives behind the murders that shocked the nation," the statement said.
Amman has witnessed a number of such crimes in the last four months, including the still-unsolved murder of seven Iraqis. Many Jordanians believe the series of killings might be motivated by political aims.
