El-Mashiga region Armed Islamic Group leader reportedly killed

Algerian security and military forces resumed their operations against armed groups in different areas of the country.
Algerian security forces were able to overcome an armed group in Agfair, in Boumerdes province, during a survey operation in which it used heavy weapons.
Meanwhile, in the region of Vicana in the southern Algerian province Mascara, a bomb was detonated under a car, leading to the death of one person and the injury of another.
A former rebel told Algerian security forces that the leader of the Armed Islamic Group, the organization most often blamed for carrying out massacres against civilians in Algeria, in El-Mashiga region was killed in a clash with the members of the Algerian army there.
He also said that there is a disintegration in the Green Battalion, the most fierce group of the GIA, headed by Anter Zowabri.
He said the army's operation in the Marrakesh mountains in Mashiga resulted in the death of at least 17 rebels in the past 10 days.
