Bishara to lecture in Damascus on Arab-Israeli conflict

The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot today said Israeli Knesset member Azmi Bishara left for Damascus on Thursday to deliver lectures on the Arab-Israeli conflict. Israeli radio said Damascus University invited Bishara for a four-day visit to deliver a series of lectures.
During his visit to Damascus in l997, Bishara met with Syrian Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa.
The paper said the Israeli government advisor Elakine Rubenstein asked one week ago for the Israeli Knesset to question Bishara because he left for Damascus without prior consent from the Israeli Ministry of the Interior.
