Annan to visit Khartoum at month's end

The Sudanese government announced that the secretary general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, will visit Khartoum at the end of this month to discuss a number of issues, including the civil war in the south and the aid presented by the United Nations and volunteer organizations.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese government, yesterday, approved an Italian suggestion concerning the ceasefire in southern Sudan, calling on the international community to pressure the Sudanese People's Liberation Army to accept the ceasefire.
This was stated at a press conference held by Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismael with his Italian counterpart.
