One Lebanese killed in Israeli air strikes against south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/3/1998

Lebanese security sources said Lebanese citizen Asaad Muhammad Hattab, 35, was killed as a result of Israeli air attacks on Thursday afternoon. The sources added that Hattab was transporting water in his tractor in al-Lweizeh town in al-Tuffah district when he was hit by an Israeli missile.

The sources stated that the Israeli bombardment covered Mleita, al-Jabal al-Rafi, Aqmata farm, Litani and al-Zahrani river courses, the green valley and al-Salawqi valley, noting the bombardment was accompanied by shelling targeting roads and mountain junctions linking al-Tuffah district with the occupied part of south Lebanon.

Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids at low altitudes over al-Tuffah district, especially the surroundings of Lweizeh town. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli planes launched an air-to-land missile against the targeted area. Five minutes after the first raid, Israeli warplanes raided the outskirts of Lweizeh town and launched two other air-surface missiles.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese resistance continued operations against Israel and South Lebanon Army positions. In a statement, the resistance said it attacked the Dier Klab position on Thursday afternoon.

The statement added that its forces machine-gunned and rocketed the position and scored direct hits. It said one group attacked Dier Klab position for the second time using rockets and machine-guns, and destroyed its fortifications.
