Algerian army continues mopping-up operations

The Algerian army killed 80 armed men during five-day mopping up operations in the border areas between the provinces of Gleisan, Tismaslit and Tiyart.
The Algerian daily al-Khaber said the joint army and police forces used artillery and helicopters in shelling shelters used by the men.
The paper indicated the mopping-up operation was carried out due to information given by two girls who escaped from the armed men after they were kidnapped during Ramadan.
A joint, army and police force killed 10 members of the armed groups in al-Fir district of Boumerdes province. Mopping up operations on al-Matmar mountain in Talmasan province resulted in the deaths of several armed men and destruction of their shelters.
The Algerian daily al-Aseel said the security forces arrested an 11-member group that was supplying the terrorist groups with informational as well as foodstuffs, medicine and money. Meanwhile, the Algerian daily Sawt al-Ahrar said the joint forces have killed 130 armed men during vast mopping-up operations carried out for the ninth successive day in Alunishris mountains.
