Libya calls for Algeria-Morocco summit to settle disputes
Libya-Morocco, Politics, 4/2/1998

Libya suggested that Morocco's King Hassan II and Algerian President Liamine Zeroual meet in a summit, a Libya diplomatic source said, adding that the Algerian and Moroccan leaders accepted the summit at first, but called for holding preliminary meetings at the experts' level and committees to prepare for the summit and settle all the disputes between the two countries.

The source stated that Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi sent the secretary of the public committee for unity, Gomaha El-Kazafi, to Rabat with a communique from Gaddafi to King Hassan, in which he noted the importance of containing the disputes.

The source expected that the Moroccan summit will be held in August, then he warned of Algeria's sensitivity toward discussing any subject involving terrorism, pointing out that the issue of terrorism is international, not only Algerian.
