Last batch of US fighters arrives in Jordan
Jordan-USA, Military, 4/1/1998
Jordan has received three US F-16 jet fighters, the last of 16 fighters offered by Washington to Jordan for signing a peace accord with Israel in 1994, following a decision taken by President Clinton in February 1996.
Jordan received the first four F- 16 fighters on December 17, 1997 as part of a US military aid program. On Monday, Jordan's prime minister, Abdul Salam al-Majali, said that "President Clinton pledged King Hussein during their Washington summit on March 19 to provide Jordan with military and economic support estimated at US $225 million."
