Jordan exempts Israel from water fees
Jordan-Israel, Economics, 4/1/1998
The Jordanian government has exempted the Israeli water company in charge of pumping water to Jordan from bills, fees and stamps estimated at 513,000 Jordanian dinars, according to the Israeli-Jordanian water agreement.
Jordanian al-Arab al-Youm newspaper on Monday quoted the Jordanian minister of irrigation and water as saying that water pumping from Israel is halted because Jordan is not presently in need of water. He added that Jordan's share of water will be stored in Tabaria lake at the disposal of Jordan when needed, especially in the summer.
The Jordanian minister denied news that the Israeli company threatened to cut its water flow to Jordan.
