Iran voices support for Lebanon
Lebanon-Iran, Politics, 4/1/1998

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi has stressed his country's support for the Lebanese resistance and the people of Lebanon in their confrontation of the continuing Israeli occupation and aggressions.

This was expressed during Kharazi's meeting with the secretary-general of the Hizbullah Party, Hassan Nasrallah, on Tuesday at the Iranian embassy in Beirut. During the meeting, the two sides talked about Israel's "Booby-trapped" proposals on UN resolution 425.

Nasrallah warned against the Israeli proposals, describing them as a maneuver targeting Lebanon and the Lebanese people.

Meanwhile, in a statement he made to Monte Carlo radio on Tuesday, Kharazi said the Israeli proposals aim at separating the Syrian-Lebanese peace tracks. He referred to Syrian-Lebanese coordination and cooperation, adding that Israel does not like this and tries to do harm to this special relationship.
