Israel continues attacks in south Lebanon, focus on those helping the resistance

Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday continued attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied area of south Lebanon, foremost the western sector. Lebanese security sources said Israeli artillery shelled al-Qayseyeh valley, Majdal Zoun, Majdal Sulum and al-Sawaneh towns.

Several houses were reported to be damaged as a result of the attacks. The shelling was accompanied by heavy-machine gun fire against the targeted areas, and by Israeli warplane sorties at low altitudes over southern areas.

Earlier in the day, Israeli heavy artillery bombarded the woods of al-Rayhan town, Aqmata farm and al-Tuffah district. News reports from South Lebanon said the shelling caused damage.

Meanwhile, Lebanese resistance forces attacked Israeli positions in Sujud, Dier Klab, and Ali al-Taher in south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said its men used in the three attacks machine-guns and rockets, and they scored direct hits.

The Israeli forces had earlier continued to take measures against the Lebanese people in the occupied part of south Lebanon, aimed at preventing them from cooperating with the Lebanese resistance or offering any aid to resistance men.

Lebanese security sources said Israeli forces deported a woman and her three year-old son from the town of Ramya and detained a Lebanese civilian from Shabaa town, jailing him at Khiam prison on accusations of cooperating with the Lebanese resistance.
