Yemen faced trade defecit in 1997

Data issued by the central department of statistics in Yemen said that the total exports in Yemen in 1997 have reached $1.8 billion, while the imports were valued at $2.2 billion.
Most important goods exported include sugar, fuel oil, vegetable oil, wheat, medicines, rice, milk and raw tobacco.
Yemeni exports in the last year included raw petroleum, fish, coffee, sheep's leather and food products.
Yemeni imports from the Arab world account for 26.9% of Yemen's total imports while its exports to the Arab world reached 1.95% of total Arabian exports.
The deficit in commercial balance reached 252.8 billion riyals for goods from Arab countries.
