Kuwait first time buy of Chinese weapons

The high council of defense in Kuwait agreed to purchase Chinese weapons to provide the Kuwaiti army with 155 millimeter cannons.
Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Salem El-Sabah said that the contract's value is $18.5 million, including ammunition, clarifying that Kuwait had received offers from the US, Britain, and South Africa in addition to the Chinese offer.
He added that the high defense council is the military organization in Kuwait that has the authority to make the selection, and that it has chosen Chinese cannons for their technical, financial and military qualities.
El-Sabah said this the first time Kuwait has bought weapons from China.
