Egypt works on restoring confidence to Egyptian tourism markets
Egypt, Economics, 3/27/1998

Mohmoud El-Beltagi, Egyptian minister of tourism, expressed his optimism towards the possibility of restoring the level of tourism in Egypt during the coming year, stating that Switzerland and Japan have had reservations about their citizens visiting Egypt, while the other European countries and the United States canceled their previous warnings about visiting Cairo and the monuments in the south.

He also said the informational and diplomatic efforts Egypt exerts will work to gradually restore the confidence of the international markets, especially by halting of terrorists operations against foreigners, adding that the ministry is currently is currently seeking to compensate for low tourist traffic with new visitors from Arab markets, Russia, Latin American and countries that were not affected by the Luxor incident last year.
