Iranian pilgrims in Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Religion, 3/26/1998
In Najaf, ten years after the end of the war between Iraq and Iran, thousands of Iranian pilgrimages returned to Iraq where it has become difficult to find a free room in the holy city for the Shiite.
On the entrance of Zemzem Hotel -- the best in Najaf, 160 Km south of Baghdad -- a banner written in Persian welcomes Iranian visitors.
Meanwhile in Muscat, Sultan Qaboos of Oman called during his meeting with Iraqi Minister of Justice Shabib al-Malki on Iraqi leaders to continue cooperation with the UN to alleviate tension in the region and to help lift the long-running UN sanctions against Iraq.
