Regional-Palestine, Economics, 3/25/1998
The meetings of the preliminary committee for the first international economic conference in Palestine, to be held from April 27 - 29, continued, said Rafek Zendage. The members of the preliminary committee said that about 400 economic establishments from Arab and foreign countries will participate in the conference.
Zendage said the idea of holding the conference was to attract Arab and international attention to the Palestinian economic crisis, adding that what makes this conference distinctive from the previous economic conference is the universality of the subject and the nature of the attendees and participants in the conference.
Zendage said the conference will stress the current conception of globalization, included in the concept of international economic relations. In addition, the conference will address the situation of Arab economies under the concept of globalization, the problem of the foreign debts, Arab international investments, international investments in Arab states and their contribution to economic development.
On the Palestinian side, the conference will focus on the Israeli practices against the Palestinian economy in addition to economic suggestions for improvements.
