Yemeni communist party protest prison sentences

The Yemeni communist party protested yesterday to the death sentence issued by a Yemeni court against 5 southern leaders, including former South Yemeni officials. The communist party said that these sentences threaten social unity and democracy.
The court convicted 13 of 15 suspects for "greater treason, violating the constitution and committing killing crimes" in 1994, handing out eight prison sentences of 3 to 10 years in addition to the five death penalties.
