Algeria studies cooperation with Sudan
Sudan-Algeria, Politics, 3/25/1998
Algerian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdel Aziz said the Sudanese suggestion of cooperating with his country shows a new attitude, stating that Sudanese demands restricted the discussion of bilateral relations.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismael confirmed his countries' support for the reforms made by Algerian President Liamine Zeroual and denied that Khartoum supports the Armed Islamic Group, the organization most often blamed for ongoing incidents of violence in Algeria.
Ismael said Sudan is opening a new page in its relations with Arab countries, especially with Egypt. He then added that Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir's visit to Cairo will come after the Greater Bairam, meaning at the end of April, and by then all the disputes between the two countries would be removed.
