Arab Journalists speak, Mubarak on Syrian-Lebanese-Israeli problem
Regional-Egypt, Politics, 3/25/1998

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday said a solution to the Syrian-Israeli and Lebanese-Israeli problems should be attained simultaneously, adding that if Israel wants to withdraw from Lebanon, it has to withdraw unconditionally according to UN resolution 425. This was expressed during President Mubarak's meeting with members of the General Secretariat of the Arab Journalists Union, led by Ibrahim Nafei.

Meanwhile, the Union's members called for adherence to the Arab summit's resolution to boycott Israel in all fields and refuse normalization in all its forms.

The final statement of the union's general trusteeship condemned the terrorism in Algeria and Egypt, as well as the international terrorism practiced by Israel in south Lebanon and the occupied Arab territories.

The statement praised international and Arab efforts that led to peaceful resolution of the recent Iraq crisis in the face of threats of a military strike against Iraq by the US and Britain. It also called for UN economic sanctions to be lifted from Iraq and on Iraq to return its Kuwaiti captives.
