4000 women are victims of violence in Algeria

Algerian sources said that more than 4,000 women were killed in attacks in Algeria, including in massacres of civilians, during the last six years.

The sources said most of the women were murdered in attacks by Islamist extremists. Another 500 women were kidnapped and 300 women were raped in attacks on villages. The sources said that a number of the raped women were found pregnant and said that there is a need to discuss the issuance of an advisory opinion allowing abortion for raped women.

The source did not mention the number of women among the extremists who were killed by security forces.

Extremists killed six children and four women this week in Teyaza, 60 km from the capital, Algiers.
