Kuwait's royal family continues discussions to establish new government
Kuwait, Politics, 3/21/1998

The royal family in Kuwait continued its discussions on forming the new government.

The parliament expected the change to include more than half the ministerial positions. Representatives and political factions called for the foundation of a powerful and consistent government representing different political viewpoints.

According to the sources, Crown Prince Sheikh Saad El-Abdallah El-Sabah, who is assigned to head the new government, took steps to set up the new ministerial assignments, expected to be announced before the end of next week.

Kuwait sources told ArabicNews.com that the concern of Sheikh Saad focuses on finding two adequate candidates for the positions of finance and information ministers. They said he will assign the new ministry to a deputy in the nation's council (parliament) with other deputies, Qassem El-Kharaffi, (an ex-finance minister), Ahmed El-Nassar, while Abdel Wahab El-Haroon had presented personal reasons for not taking this post.
