Pope John Paul II to visit Israel before the year 2,000

Chief Rabbi Rabbi Alio Tawaf announced yesterday in Rome that Pope John Paul II will visit occupied Jerusalem before the year 2,000.
The rabbi who meets regularly with the Pope was quoted in statements to reporters as saying that the Pope promised visit Jerusalem before the year 2,000.
Pope John Paul received one invitation from the Israeli government and another from the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to visit the holy shrines in Israel and those under Palestinian authority.
