Libya, Gambia Presidents meet on bilateral relations
Libya, Politics, 3/18/1998

Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi met today with President of Gambia, currently on a three-day visit to Tripoli.

Gambian President Yahya Jammeh said the meeting will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and deepen mutual understanding of regional and international issues for arriving at a clear common vision.

Jammeh expressed his country's support for Libya against sanctions imposed on it, noting the need to lift these sanctions following the decision of the International Court of Justice to rule on the Lockerbie case.

Meanwhile minutes of cooperation between Libya and Gambia on the economic fields were cosigned by the two countries ministers of finance. The minutes of the meeting call for the establishment of a joint bank, reactivating the transport joint company and the possibility of mutual investment in the fields of hotels and culture.
