Kuwait: New government will form in the coming week
Kuwait, Politics, 3/18/1998
Kuwaiti sources said they expect the announcement of the formation of a new government by the end of the coming week.
Parliamentary sources said that Sheikh Saed Abdallah El-Sabah, the successor, authorized the formation of a new government while Ahmed El-Saadon, head of the nation's council, agreed upon postponing the council's session until March 28 to allow the new government to form.
The sources confirmed that some ministers likely to be included in the new government expressed their desire not to participate in the government, most notably Naser El-Rodan, the deputy prime minister and minister of finance.
The sources expect the exit of Information Minister Saad El-Sabah, who was in danger of being relieved by a parliamentary no-confidence vote and said that he will assume an advisory post after refusing to lead any other ministry besides information.
The sources also told ArabicNews.com that the ministerial amendment will include at least eight new ministers.
