Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on Monday evening discussed with his Libyan counterpart Omar al-Muntasir developments in the region and the importance of the International Court of Justice issuing a decision on the Lockerbie issue, a matter which would hasten lifting UN sanctions imposed on Libya.

On Tuesday al-Sharaa' reviewed with the chief of the PLO political department, Farouk al-Qaddoumi, developments on the "Palestinian arena and the future of the Palestinian track." Later in the day, al-Sharaa met with his Iraqi counterpart, Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf, who expressed Iraq's commitment to UN Security Council resolutions and the accord concluded with the UN Security General. He stressed that Iraqi leadership is prepared to cooperate with the UN to carry out the accord as soon as possible so as to lift the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
