Syria, Jordan agree on a free trade area

The director-general of the Jordanian free zone establishment, Dr. Ali Madahdeh, said on Friday that Jordan and Syria have agreed on the need to open the Syrian - Jordanian joint free trade area in the border area between the two countries and to revive the Syrian-Jordanian company for industrial zones.
In a statement to the Jordanian daily al-Arab following his official visit to Syria, Madahdeh said that opening the countries' joint free trade zone would reactivate the role of Syrian-Jordanian joint companies and facilitate the exchange of commodities between the two sides. He said the joint industrial free trade zone between the two countries, established on an area of 8,500 dunums, contains pharmaceutical factories and medical products.
