Palestinian groups agree to escalating attacks against Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/14/1998

Some Palestinian groups such as Hamas, and the Popular Liberation Front have called for escalating the confrontation against the Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Statements distributed in the Khalil area where three Palestinian workers were shot this week by Israeli soldiers at a border crossing, called on Palestinians to clash with gangs of settlers and Israeli forces everywhere and by all means.

Hamas said in a similar statement under the title of "Let the negotiations stop" that such an escalation of popular anger is the perfect practical attack to stop the disdain of the "Zionists" for Palestinians, adding that duty obligates the Palestinian police to protect Palestinian citizens from the "malicious enemy."

Maher El-Taher, the spokesman of the popular front said that the killings are part of continuous Zionist attacks on Palestine.
