UN chief denies Israeli reports on his plan to implement 425
Regional, International, 3/13/1998

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Wednesday denied reports broadcast by Israeli television's Channel 2 suggesting that Annan would bring a five-point plan concerning Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon. The report added that Annan would submit his ideas to the Lebanese government during his coming visit to Lebanon in March.

Replying to an Israeli report, UN Chief spokesman said that "the UN secretary General has no five-point plan concerning Lebanon." The spokesman announced last week that Annan will visit Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, the Palestinian territories and Israel respectively on March 18 through 26.

The spokesman said Annan's visit is basically an official one to these states as well as to UN peacekeeping forces in these countries and UN humanitarian programs in the areas, including UNRWA.
