Tunis hosts Europe - Maghreb security, cooperation symposium

Participants in the international symposium on security and cooperation between Europe and al-Maghreb al-Arabi states on Tuesday discussed issues pertaining to common security and future cooperation between the countries of the Mediterranean states and the political dialogue required to make such a cooperation a success.

Participants in the symposium, which concluded its deliberations yesterday, spoke about developments in the Middle East peace process and the impasse it has reached. They asserted the need for an active European role in peace talks.

Several speakers urged the E.U. to pursue a new, more active and forcefull policy in the international arena.
