Libya, Economics, 3/10/1998
Maltese Foreign Minister George Vella said his country and Libya will hold talks on sea border demarcation that involves an area which is expected to be rich in oil deposits.
Vella was quoted as saying following his talks with Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi on Monday that Libya welcomed Malta's proposals. He expressed confidence in the possibility of proceeding forward positively with this issue. He added that his talks with President Gaddafi dealt with bilateral relations, especially regarding increasing trade and creating opportunities for Maltese construction companies to work in Libya.
The Maltese official said his country will reiterate at the UN its viewpoints on the need to lift sanctions imposed on Libya.
