Arab Labor Conference for further common Arab cooperation
Regional, Economics, 3/9/1998
The Arab Labor Conference on Sunday concluded its 25th session in Luxor following seven-day deliberations on issues pertaining to work and workers in Arab states.
In its final statement, the conference stressed the importance of working out economic reform programs as part of a balanced development at the national and pan-Arab levels. The conference approved Arab labor accord no. 19 of 1998 concerning work inspection.
The conferees asked the Arab League to set up Arab economic projects which secure jobs for Arab manpower, to establish an Arab center for information on commodities and services, and to form an Arab commission to unify customs tariffs.
The statement also called for active Arab participation in the conference of the International Labor Organization scheduled to be held in Geneva in June, 1998.
