Saudi Arabia, Yemen to resume border demarcation talks
Yemen-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 3/7/1998
Yemeni Parliament speaker Sheikh Abdullah al-Ahmar on Thursday said Yemen and Saudi Arabia will, within a few days, resume talks concerning the 60-year border conflict between the two countries, during which clashes have taken place in the border areas which are rich in oil and gas.
In 1995, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding after which a series of talks was convened to settle the disputes.
Al-Ahmar continued that he discussed the conflict during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia at the end of February with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz.
