Russian envoy arrives in Beirut

Diplomatic sources in Damascus said Russian envoy Victor Posovaluk left for Beirut following a one-day visit to Damascus during which he met with Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa.
Monte Carlo radio reported that Syria did not confirm the visit. The report said Posovaluk explained the Russian position concerning the recent Iraqi crisis.
