Lebanese child wounded in Israeli shelling
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 3/7/1998
Israeli shelling on a front-line village Friday wounded a Lebanese child in southern Lebanon, security sources said.
Atef Asaad, four years old, was wounded when Israeli shells hit the village of Mashghara in the western Bekaa. The shelling, which caused damage to several houses in the area, was preceded by clashes between the Lebanese resistance and Israeli-allied militiamen, in which two militiamen were wounded.
Hizbullah forces also attacked militiamen from the South Lebanon Army in the town of Jezzine, the sources said.
Israel retaliated by sending its warplanes to attack suspected Hizbullah. There was no word on casualties.
