High joint committee between Egypt and Tunisia concludes today

The high joint committee between Egypt and Tunisia concluded its activities yesterday with signing a cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The activities of the Tunisian - Egyptian joint committee started yesterday with the chairmanship of Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal Al-Ganzouri and his Tunisian counterpart Hamed Karoui.

Egypt and Tunisia emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation among Arab states to confront globalization and economic blocs.

The two parties also agreed to increase commercial exchange between the two countries to $300 million by the year 2000. Trade between Egypt and Tunisia was valued at $72 million last year, including $47 million in exports of Egyptian goods and $25 million in Tunisian exports.

The two countries signed agreements in trade, supply, tourism, health, education and culture.
