Damascus hosts Syrian-Dutch trade contact meeting

An agri-business mission from the Netherlands will visit Syria from March 23-26 to explore possibilities for additional trade and investment. The mission will focus on food and agriculture, including food processing, horticulture, animal husbandry, agricultural machinery, and food products.
The mission is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Netherlands and the Royal Dutch embassy in Damascus, and the Dutch participants will hold trade meetings with their Syrian counterparts on March 24.
The members of the mission will also be acquainted with the development of Syrian agriculture during field trips in the sectors of horticulture and animal husbandry, organized in close cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture.
This agri-business team which represents 17 Dutch agriculture and food companies and organizations is visiting three countries in the region, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. The considerable number of participants reflects the increased interest of Dutch companies in this region, which has undergone considerable economic growth in the last five years.
At the same time it reflects the continued importance and international orientation of Dutch agricultural trade and investment. The participating Dutch companies and organizations cover dairy production, food processing, horticulture machinery and agricultural advisory and training services.
