Former Sudanese prime minister meets with US delegation in Cairo

A diplomatic source told ArabicNews.com that the former Sudanese prime minister and "Nations Party" leader Sadiq El-Mahdi met with a diplomatic delegation from the US embassy in Cairo, where they discussed developments in the Sudanese arena and communications by the Sudanese opposition with the officials in Sudan's neighboring countries.

The source said that the meeting took place in place in Nation Party headquarters in Cairo, and that the US delegation was headed by the ambassador's political advisor and includes a number of diplomats.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese parliament decided to hold an emergency session for three weeks, to discuss the draft of the new constitution , which allows the formation of political parties in the country.

The parliament will hold its emergency session from March 9 to April 1 to discuss the permanent draft of the new Sudanese constitution that will later be presented in a general referendum.
