Emirates ready to send a delegation to Tehran
United Arab Emirates-Iran, Politics, 3/4/1998
Diplomatic sources in Emirates confirmed its readiness to send a delegation to Tehran to discuss solving their dispute over three Gulf Islands (Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Mousa) peacefully if Iran has a similar readiness to discuss this issue in all its detail.
Former president of Iran Hashimi Rafsanjani said three days ago that the problem with the UAE could be solved through bilateral meetings, confirming that Tehran expects the arrival of an UAE delegation to resume negotiations.
Sheikh Hamad Ben Zayed, the UAE's state minister for foreign affairs, intended to visit the Iranian capital in September 1995, but the visit was canceled because of Iran's lack of readiness to discuss the issue.
