US-Iraqi meeting convened in Amman

A Western diplomatic source said a security meeting was held in Amman on Friday between an Iraqi security delegation led by Iraqi intelligence director Rafe' al-Takriti and a US delegation led by Frank Richard Dony, the first secretary in the US embassy in Ankara.

The source added the meeting, held at the headquarters of the US embassy in Amman, Jordan, dealt with the possibility of restoring relations between Iraq and the US after the US had refused any political meeting with the Iraqi government.

The sources said the Iraqi security delegation carried authorization to accept all conditions proposed by the US to resume relations severed between the two countries since 1990 on all economic, political and trade levels, Al-Safir daily said.
