Kurdish local minister, ICRC representative meet

The minister of health and social affairs of the Kurdish local government in northern Iraq met with the represntative of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Kurdistan region.They dicussed relations between the ministry and the international community.
ICRC is to initiate a project to make artificial limbs for handicapped people in the region.
Many people benefit from the ICRC projects because their limbs were amputated, mainly from the explosions of landmines placed in the region in 1980s during the Iraq - Iran war and Anfal Campaigns launched agianst Kurds by Iraqi armed forces.
MAG, an EU demining NGO, suggets that 22 million land mines have been remained in land in the North of Iraq. An average of 5-10 people have been imposed to such damages by mine exlosions every day.
