Morocco burns six tons of Cocaine

Moroccan security forces burned six tons of cocaine in a cement factory. This is the first time the Moroccan authorities have siezed such a quantity of cocaine.
The case began in July 1997, when the crew of the Colombian ship Duanas, sailing toward Spain, threw the drugs overboard because of a breakdown in the ship's engine.
After getting rid of the drugs, the crew headed to Al-Konaiterah harbor to fix the breakdown, where they were arrested after security investigations launched when the drugs washed up on the Moroccan shore.
The burning was attended by Moroccan Minister of Interior Idris Al-Basri, Minister of Justice Omar Ozaiman, the leader of the royal forces General Hosni Bensilaiman, the European Union in Rabat and supervisors from the United Nations.
