Algerian human rights group: where are 706 persons

The Algerian national human rights watch group, registered complaints demanding to know the location of 706 persons who were reported missing in 1997, it registered 217 missing persons in 1996.
The head of the group, Kamel Razzak Barah, said the department was able to learn the destiny of 514 of those missing persons and most of them were lost in operations unrelated to the security forces.
Barah also added that a number of those reported missing secretly departed the country or joined the Armed Islamic Group, stating that some were killed or arrested during disputes with security forces.
He said some families disbelieve the results of the observatory's investigations when it reveals that their relative became a terrorist.
