New Radio Jordan building
Jordan, Local, 3/2/1998
On the 39th anniversary of Radio Jordan's establishment, King Hussein of Jordan inaugurated a new building for the radio service. At the cost of JD8 million, the building will give Radio Jordan a leading edge in the growing radio broadcast market.
The inauguration ceremony coincided with the launch of International Radio Services of British Broadcasting Corporation BBC and Radio Monte Carlo on local FM broadcasts.
"The expansion of Radio Jordan frequencies is a matter of pride for all Jordanians," the king told reporters after the inauguration ceremony. "I am very happy with what has also occurred, simultaneously, with regard to the fact that there are other broadcasting services that will be transmitting from Amman," the king said, "I hope that it will be an example to others in the region."
