Khaddam and El-Sharaa will visit Tehran

Syrian Vice-President Abdel Halim Khaddam and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa will head to Tehran during the coming week where there will be discussions between the two foreign ministers in order to specify a date for the Iranian - Syrian high committee's meeting.
Damascus had postponed the visit by Khaddam and al-Sharaa two weeks ago at the last monument, so as not to imply that a bilateral alliance between the two countries against the US with regard to the Iraqi crisis.
Diplomatic sources said Tehran understands the circumstances that lead to the postponment of the high committee's meetings, stating that relations between the two countries are very strong and strategic.
