Five Israel soldiers killed, wounded in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 2/27/1998

Israeli security sources said on Thursday that three Israeli soldiers were killed and another two were wounded in an attack by the Lebanese national resistance against military positions in Balat village in the occupied strip of south Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese national resistance said it carried out a series of operations against the Israeli occupation sites in the occupied part of the South.

Resistance sources added that on Thursday resistance groups attacked Israeli positions at Beir Klab, Sujoud and Kassart al-Aroush.

The sources said Israeli helicopters landed at the operation sites and evacuated the dead and wounded soldiers.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continued shelling towns adjacent to the occupied part of the South. The shelling covered empty army barracks in al-Nabatieh and the surroundings of Ghandour palace.

Also, Israeli forces positioned in al-Debsheh, al-Zaffateh, and al-Reihan bombarded the woods of Sujoud, Aqmata farm, al-Zahrani river course and Arab Salim-Habboush road.
