Increasing concrete production in Yemen

The Yemeni Ministry of Industry plans to increase Yemeni concrete production to 3 million tons annually by raising the production of the three main factories in the country, controlled by the General Corporation for Concrete Production, and adding two other new factories at a cost of $3.4 million.
Commenting on this step, Abdel Kamim, the manager of the corporation specializing in manufacturing and marketing Yemeni concrete said the plan is based upon the participation of the private sector in the concrete industry, to achieve a balanced distribution and production, including new regions, to secure the reduction of production costs and to create job opportunities in these regions.
Kamim also said the expansion plans coincide with increased private sector production to fill the growing demand for concrete domestically.
